Elegant Dinner

Caleb's school has a very special dinner each year called Elegant Dinner. They prepare ahead of time by teaching the children about manners and how to behave in a formal setting. The cafeteria is transformed into a fancy restaurant and Mrs. Joy even played the harp for dinner music. A few of the second grade students are chosen to be hosts and hostesses. The principals from other schools, school board members, and other community leaders are invited to the dinner...the children did such a great job escorting these dignitaries. The above picture is Mr. Owens, Caleb's principal, with with a few of the students. It is such a neat experience for the kids and I was so glad that I was able to help at the registration table so that I could see exactly what the day was all about. The children were so well behaved...they loved it! I'm so grateful that Caleb is being taught important life skills like this at his school...plus it's a lot of fun!
